The Horse and His Boy ~ C.S. Lewis
Hi everyone!
The third book in The Chronicles of Narnia is called The Horse and His Boy, the story of a boy who escapes to Narnia with a talking horse!
Just as young Shasta is about to be sold into slavery, he steals a talking horse and escapes with it to the land of Narnia, where the horse lived before it was captured as a foal. On the way they meet Aravis Tarkheena, who is also a fugitive, and her talking horse Hwin. These four travel to Tashbaan where Shasta runs into King Edmund and is mistaken for a Prince. Shasta must then find his way back to the others toย complete their journey to Narnia…
The Horse and His Boy is a great story thatย I feel is slightly underrated, which is sad because it’s just as good as the first two! It’s also slightly different to the others, which makes it even better. My favourite character was Lasaraleen Tarkheena because, although she seems very stuck-up and annoying, she is actually very sweet and kind to Aravis. I think the one bit I didn’t really like was the ending because it was a bit too rushed, but other than that it was a wonderful book and I loved it!
Simi Star rating: **** (4 stars)
I agree, it is slightly underrated. But glad you’re enjoying the series!! ๐

I love reading your reviews, Simi! And I agree-The Horse and His Boy is underrated. It’s actually my favorite book in the series, although I love them all so much, it’s hard to choose. ๐

Thank you so much Christine! I’m currently reading the Silver Chair, and the Horse and His Boy is probably my favourite so far, although I also love the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! It is very hard to choose ๐

My brother is reading this in school. ๐ I like it, but in some spots I remember it being a little scattered. But that was probably when I was about 9. ๐

Awesome! It was quite scattered in places and sometimes difficult to follow the plot line, but I really enjoyed reading it ๐

Haha, sorry!! I was actually looking back on this post and wondering why I gave it 4 stars, because the first three books are my FAVE and I love them all equally. Well, apparently not, because I gave the first two 5 stars but not this one. I think I just found it dragged a little bit in the middle…?
