The Crossways ~ Morgan Elizabeth Huneke

Hi readers!

Today I will be reviewing The Crossways, the second book in the Time Captives trilogy, by Morgan Huneke. Enjoy!

Emily, Allan, Jill and Joey have finally reunited with their long lost ancestors, the Time Captives, and are on a quest to free the rightful king of Calhortz from his long imprisonment on an island. He and his family can only be freed using an object of great importance and power – the Redona. This is the key to their freedom but, although they know exactly where it is, it won’t be easy to obtain. Can they retrieve the Redona from its hiding place before they are captured by pirates? Will they be able to acquire the Redona at all?

I loved this book! Although the Time Captives’ story was quite interesting, I preferred the stories about Eleanor in the past. It flipped quite a lot between the past and the present, but it was written really well and I really enjoyed it! Some parts were slightly boring, but other parts left my mouth gaping in shock. It is quite difficult, but I have to say that Eleanor was probably my favourite character, closely followed by Jill. Eleanor’s character was a lot more significant in this book, and Jill seemed to have changed a bit from the first book – she seemed more mature. Overall it was a great book, better than the first, and I highly recommend it!

Creighton Hill ~ Morgan Elizabeth Huneke

Hi everyone!

I’m just taking a short break from Narnia to review Creighton Hill by Morgan Elizabeth Huneke! Creighton Hill is the first book in the Time Captives trilogy. Morgan has an awesome offer on that you should check out: she will send you one of her books to read for free if you review it afterwards! How awesome is that? You can only read it on Kindle or another format like it. Any questions, please ask in the comments below! Anyway, on with the review!

Emily, Allan, Jill, Joey and Anna have just moved into Creighton Hill after their grandfather’s death. Growing up hearing that their family history was full of early deaths in Creighton Hill, the children are not too happy about the movement. Attempting to discover the mystery behind the early deaths, the four younger children search their grandpa’s study for evidence. This leads them to the attic, where a world magically appears and they are taken to the same fate as their ancestors…

I love this book! It’s written so well and I like how they go back and forth in time. It was a bit of a slow story but something interesting happens in every chapter, making it quite a page-turner! My favourite characters were probably Allan and George, because they were very courageous. I liked Abigail too, because she was sweet and good-natured. Loved it!
